When Your Body Stops Trying to Be Perfect

When Your Body Stops Trying to Be Perfect

There’s a moment I’ve started recognising in myself.
It doesn’t look graceful. It doesn’t look composed.
It looks like my face doing something completely unexpected.
Tongue out. Eyes wide. A bit ridiculous. And right in the middle of that… something softens.

Not because I did anything right. Not because I figured something out.
Just because I stopped holding.

The Quiet Way We Hold Ourselves

It’s subtle, the way it starts.

A slight tightening in the jaw.
A breath that doesn’t fully land.
A sense of needing to stay contained.

Most men I meet don’t talk about it like this.

They talk about stress.
About pressure.
About feeling “on” all the time.

But when you sit with it for a moment, it’s not just mental. It’s in the body.

A quiet bracing.
A holding pattern that doesn’t really switch off.

And it makes sense.

If your life asks you to stay focused, productive, reliable…
there isn’t always space to fall apart or let things move.

So the body adapts. It holds.

When the Body Starts to Let Go

The first time I noticed it clearly, it surprised me.

I wasn’t doing anything particularly intentional. Just standing in front of a mirror, tired from the day. And instead of adjusting myself, fixing my posture, or softening my expression…

I let my face do something strange. It felt silly.

But underneath that… there was a small release.

Like a breath dropping deeper.
Like something unclenching without needing permission.

That’s when I started paying attention. Not to what I should do. But to what the body does when it’s not being managed.

Expression Before Understanding

There’s a kind of intelligence in the body that doesn’t explain itself.

It doesn’t ask for permission.
It doesn’t wait until things make sense.

It moves first.

You see it in children. They don’t sit there trying to analyse what they feel.
They cry. They shout. They move. They make faces. And then they’re done.

Their body completes something. And they return to ease.

Somewhere along the way, most of us stopped allowing that.

Not because it was wrong. Just because it didn’t fit the environment anymore.

So the movement stayed unfinished.

What I Notice in Tantra Massage Sessions in Perth

Sometimes during a tantra massage session, I see this moment appear.

Not always in a big way.

Sometimes it’s just a breath that deepens.

Sometimes it’s a small sound that slips out.

Sometimes it’s a subtle shift in the face, like something loosens.

It’s never something I try to create.

It’s something that happens when the body feels safe enough to stop performing.

When it’s not being asked to do anything.

When there’s nothing to achieve.

Just warmth. Slow touch and presence.

And over time, something starts to move.

Not forced. Not directed. Just allowed.

Warm Lotion, Slow Contact, and Space

There’s something about warm lotion on the skin that invites this.

It’s not sharp or stimulating. It’s soft.

Spreading slowly. Inviting attention back into the body.

Not in a way that demands anything. Just enough to notice what’s already there.

And when nothing is being rushed, the body doesn’t need to defend itself.

It doesn’t need to brace.

It can begin to soften in its own timing.

The Moment You Stop Trying to Look Good

This is the part that still feels the most honest.

The moment where you’re not trying to be attractive.
Not trying to be composed.
Not trying to get it right.

Even if it’s just for a second.

There’s something deeply relieving about that.

Not because it solves anything. But because it removes the pressure.

And without that pressure… the body does something different.

It breathes. It moves. It unwinds in small, quiet ways.

A Small Noticing

Maybe there’s a moment today where you catch yourself holding.

In your jaw.
In your chest.
In the way you’re sitting.

Nothing to fix.

Just a small noticing.

And maybe… just for a second…
you let something in your body move in a way that doesn’t make sense.

Not to perform it. Not to do it well.

Just to see what happens.
